Cally Smith

I am a self taught decorative painter, based in the North East of Scotland, and have been painting for several years now. .

If you like what you see please contact me on colourworx@aol.com and I can chat to you about your requirements. To see a larger range of my designs, please visit my site by clicking here.

With the exception of some old wood items I may pick up along the way, I always try to chose MDF as a 'wood' painting surface to ensure I am not contributing to any loss of environmental habitats.

Occasion Boxes like the one below can be painted for any occasion such as weddings, birthdays, special anniversaries, and the arrival of new babies

The process of decorative painting is a long but satisfying one:
a) draw your design
b) prepare and basecoat the surface to be painted
c) transfer the design to the surface
d) block in colour
e) add lots and lots of paint layers to shade and highlight the design.

It is the final shading and highlighting that make the designs really come to life.
