I have always enjoyed working with wood, and started off making small items, like stools, bedroom and bathroom cabinets, and newspaper racks. Then I thought I would try woodturning, and taught myself from books and videos. I also still make small furniture, mirrors etc. Each piece I make is unique.
I use mostly locally sourced woods, like elm, beech, birch and yew. Ash and Burr Elm are getting harder to obtain now, but I occasionally find a few nice pieces.
I enjoy making clocks and bowls especially, but will do my best to turn or make whatever the customer wishes. I also produce larger items for the home ranging from coffee tables and large mirrors to table lamps and wine racks. I will accept commissions, and special orders.
I attend Craft Fairs locally and in Aberdeenshire and also agricultural shows in Kirriemuir and Banchory, as well as the Lonach and Aboyne Games, Forfar Farmers’ Market and the Perth Craft Market.
I have a gallery in my home and all are welcome to view by appointment and really enjoy meeting and talking to customers and other crafters.
