If not writing new historical fiction, you’ll find Nancy Jardine pottering around her experimental garden. Yes, that’s a euphemism for – if it survives call it a bonus! Writing about all historical time periods appeals immensely, but so far only the early Celtic/Roman Britain, Victorian, and Edwardian eras have been explored in her published work.
She has given many presentations to groups, large and small, across Aberdeenshire sharing her love of Roman Scotland, and sometimes talking about her books in general. Lately, she’s been involved in attending Book Festivals around Scotland where she has been part of author panels and author interviews.
Her novels have achieved Finalist status in prestigious UK book competitions and have gained various noteworthy Online Book Awards.

The SILVER SAMPLER SERIES is a continued saga, set in Victorian Scotland, mainly charting the lifetime of Margaret Law. She can’t be a teacher but a mixture of private tutoring; seamstress; textile-mill work; being a lady’s maid; and a boarding-house cleaner all keep food on her table and a roof over her head. However, her survival means travelling to where the work is, though that also gives her more opportunities than many Victorian working-class women will ever experience. Edinburgh, Dundee, Peterhead, Aberdeen, St. Andrews are Scottish destinations but she’s fortunate to also spend time in Liverpool. Made wary by dysfunctional adult romantic relationships during her upbringing, Margaret finds entering into relationships difficult and the results when she succumbs aren’t always successful. Correspondence via letters is a natural way for Margaret to share her life with her best friend Jessie, but when the going gets tough Jessie doesn’t always get the whole truth.
In Book 3, Johnny Fraser is introduced as a second main character. His relationship with Margaret then runs as a parallel thread in the rest of the series.
Book 4 (expected early 2027) continues both Margaret’s and Johnny’s eventful lives. They spend time on the island of Anglesey before other destinations, in northern England and Scotland, are posts of call where their lives continue to take unexpected turns.

The CELTIC FERVOUR ADVENTURE SERIES allows a reader to immerse themselves in late first century north Roman Britain and Caledonia (think Cumbria, Yorkshire and southern Scotland).
