I have always enjoyed working with wood, and taught myself woodturning around 15 years ago. I also make small furniture, like coffee tables, mirrors etc. These can be made to your specification. I use mostly locally sourced wood, Ash, Elm, the beautiful Yew, Beech and Birch. Burr Elm is very popular for the “rustic” look. Spalted Beech is also a beautiful wood. Although Ash and Burr Elm are getting harder to obtain, I still get a few nice pieces. I especially enjoy making clocks and bowls. I also make mirrors out of really nice wood. Whisky Trays are a nice gift for fathers, and can be made to order.
My newest Venture is teaching woodturning at Forfar Academy, and we are now an established woodturning club, and, I am an approved tutor with the AWGB.
